Hi, just picked up a 71 dodge phoenix, I think it may be a 71 fury 3 in the states, It has a 383,727 and dana rear, I would like to transfur this into my 70 chally. My question is will this diff bolt in without to much hassle and will the disc brake frount end bolt up as well.

I can tell you that I am almost certain the front brakes/knuckles will not bolt up. Or rather they might but the geometry will be all wrong. Check out the "Swap and Stop" article here.

The axle will bolt up ok. But will it be the right width? Von posted some measurements of a,b, and e-body axles here but I think the Fury is a C-body?

Even if it is the right width I would question that you need a Dana. It is a massive heavy thing that takes a lot of power to drive. 500+hp and a manual gearbox with the clutch dumped at high rpm from a standing start and I would consider it but the 8.75" axle is plenty strong enough for most of us.

Luke - I plan to install a disc brake front end too on my '71. I've read an article on the Charger Club of WA site about a disc brake conversion done to a '69 Charger. The owner lists all the donor parts and they include calipers from a Commodore, rotors and wheel studs from a Ford Falcon, and Valiant Charger wheel bearings.
Read the article here and click on the Dodge Charger: http://www.chargerclubofwa.asn.au/member smain.htm

thanks roger, but i dont think ill go down the road that fella did, I want a conversion that is bolt on with no special brackets or spacers. Castlemain rod shop sell a conversion thats simular. you dont get parts with it you get the plans. I reacently picked up a 71 dodge phoenix for the 383/727 mainly and if anything else fits is a bouns.

Is the windscreen washer bottle the same in the Phoenix as in the challenger Luke? If so (and it's okay) I'd be interested in buying it from you if you don't need it. I assume you are going to strip the car down for parts?

Thanks anyway Luke. I've bit the bullet and paid over the top prices to Year One for the bottle, pump and filter (A$211.00). If you have no plans for the seat belts in the rear, let me know as mine is only fitted with two and I need a centre lap belt. Cheers...

Jay - I assume yours was a 4 wheel drum set-up before you installed the discs from the Duster? Did you also replace the master cylinder and proportioning valve too? I'm pretty keen to do the swap on my car, but don't have that much experience, so would like to follow the KISS rule if possible (Keep It Simple Stupid) and learn by other's experience.
