Spring relocation kit

"Moves leaf spring 3" per side for added tire clearance. Mounts longitudinally. Requires welding. Includes front hangers, shackles, rear shackle bushings and spring mounting seats."

This is the discription mancini gives for their relocation kit. Anybody know if this will give you 3" more space for the wheels or will in this case the wheels hit other parts of the car like inner fender, shocks or what?

I like to move the springs inside a bit cause I'm having some problems finding the right rims for my ride. I wanted 8,5x15" but centerline hasn't the needed backspacing to fit everything nicely so or I need spacers which I don't want so I was thinking about relocating the leafs.

Any opinions about this relocation kit??

It all depends on the size and offset of your wheels/tyres Hans. The shock absorber moves in with the spring so that is ok. There is quite a bit of room inside the wheel well so unless you are going very big in the tyre you will not have to widen the inner wheel wells (weld a band in) or weld in 'tubs'. Thet re-location kit is a lot of work if you are not used to welding/fabrication.

To fit the 8,5 x15s should not be a problem with the stock spring location. What backspace do the wheels have?

I fitted my 295/50s on 10x15s by just moving the springs less than an inch with offset hangers.

I'm doubting between two kind of wheels; Centerline Convo Pro or the Centerline Auto Drag polished version.

Convo Pro : 8,5x15" - backspacing 5" or 3.3/8"
Auto Drag : 8,5x15" - backspacing 3.5/16" or 4.7/8"

The maximum "frontspacing" I can get away with to fit everything under/behind the arches is 4" so the 3.3/8" (8,5 - 3.3/8 = 5.1/8" front) and the 3.5/16" (8,5 - 3.5/16 = 5.3/16" front) backspacings are no good for my needs.

The ideal backspacing would be 4,5" so if I would go for the Convo Pro I need 1/2" spacers (5 - 4,5 = 0,5") and for the Auto Drag I need 3/8" spacers (4.7/8 - 4,5 = 3/8").

The front wheels (7x15") will give me no problems with the available 3.5/16" or 3.3/8" backspacing. The only thought with the front wheels is when I choose the Convo Pro's the so called frontspacing of my front wheels will be 1/8" more then the rear wheels but that's hard to see without a measuring device I hope.

So my thoughts right now are go for the 8,5x15's with spacers (available in 5/16 or 7/16") and if they hit the leaf springs relocate them a bit. Cause I just read that the swaybar can't be used when moving the whole stuff 3" inside and when I would go for the 3" relocation kit I hoped to be able to fit some 12" but then again I would be fighting with the wrong backspacings.

BTW, which of the above wheels do you all think is nicer?

They both look nice but are both a pain to keep polished and inflated to the right pressure. The convos are harder to clean. Both also will damage VERY easily against a kerb so be careful as you drive in the narrow streets of European towns.

Have a word with Jay and ask him what the backspace is on his 8.5x15s. He says he has lots of room between the tyre and the spring yet it still has room between the outer edge too.

Problem solved, just went for some other wheels (see axle post) to save some time and money. Only 3 weeks before the first meeting and still a lot of work to do. Thanks for the feedback Dave!
