Hello again, this may be a boring topic for some but,...I would like to find a set of original hubcaps for my car. It is a 71 Challenger Deputy with the W11 option code hubcaps. Question is, what did this hubcap actually look like for this year. I've been told the 68-69 style of this hubcap had a red center with the Dodge symbol (as pictured on the website). The 70 style is not painted red and has the words Dodge Division on them.

It is not easy to find any photos of these wheels and I struggled to find that one on the web site.

I thought the image I did get was from a 1970 model Challenger but I will have to check tonight.

As for 1971 I simply do not know.

I like the look. I would be happy with either set. Anyone know of any for sale?

MARK- THE DEPUTY'S COULD HAVE SEVERAL HUB CAPS. THE W11 CAP IS NOT THE SMALL ONE- IT IS A 14 " FULL SIZED HUBCAP- FROM THE RIM LIP OUT IT IS RAISED OUTWARDS TO THE CENTRE WITH THE ACTUAL CENTRE INWARDS LIKE A VOLCANO- WITH THE DODGE 3 POINT EMBLEM INSIDE, THE SMALL CAPS JUST HAVE THE DODGE EMBLEM ONLY

Now I understand the confusion Mark (I think?).

You have been reading Paul Herds restoration guide. He makes some mistakes (as I do).

He seems to think there were two different deep dish wheel covers with one replacing the other and he is confused about what was printed on what.

To make matters worse I just noticed I have the wheel covers labled wrong on my web site (although I have a feeling someone pointed this out ages ago and I never got around to fixing it along with the many other mistakes and then I forgot)

Here is a scan from the 1970 model brochure. It should clear this whole thing up. Except it will not because you will still not know what should be in the centre on your car!!

As you can see here the W11 dish has the word 'Challenger in the centre.

Confused now?

Aha!!! Thats it. Confusion over. The hubcaps I have are the W11 pictured in this brochure. Just an extra note---my hubcaps do have the word Challenger in the center (well 2 do,the other 2 say Dodge and I assume they are not original to the car).

Thanks again for all the info and help!

Still interested in some W13's though.

But Ah! again because I don't know what years they had Challenger on them (1970 for sure) or if they changed at all after that. There is a place in California that sells old hub caps if I remember right.

A great cut from the 1970 brochure, Dave. The saying: ´A picture says more than a thousand words´, has a lot of truth in it. Many of my books tries to describe hub caps and wheel covers, but the words are almost useless without a picture.

I would be grateful, if anybody could post a similar cut from a 1972-1974 brochure!
