Aftermarket swaybars

Does anybody make an aftermarket bar that has weld on brackets and fits somewhat like the original style? I bought a Helwig bar a while back, it was the biggest piece of junk, they expected you to mount it with these crude plates on the bottoms of the LCA, the stupid thing interfered with everything. I quickly sold that POS. BTW, can anybody recommend a good rear bar? Thanks

Bars are bars on the whole. It is only a bent length of steel. 'P.S.T.', 'Just Suspension', and 'Springs 'n' Things' all sell these at good prices.

Your best bet with the LCA is to fit one from another car that came from the factory with a sway bar. That way you have a strong, stock, bracket already in place.

Changing any suspension pieces drasticly alters the way your car handles. All the parts have a relationship to each other. If you change this your car could oversteer or understeer badly. Do not just add any old size sway bar to the front and back without considering what effect it will have.

I am sure I have some guidelines at home to help with this.

Here are some ballpark sway bar sizes to get you going. It is important to have the right size rear bar in relation to the front so that handling on the car stays as neutral as possible.

<table border=1><tr><td>Front bar</TD><TD>Rear bar </TD></TR><TR><TD>7/8ths</TD><TD>11/16ths </TD></TR><TR><TD>15/16ths</TD><TD>3/4 </TD></TR><TR><TD>1</TD><TD>7/8ths </TD></TR><TR><TD>1 1/8th</TD><TD>15/16ths </TD></TR><TR><TD>1 1/4</TD><TD>1</td></tr></table>

Remember these are ballpark. There are many things that effect handling such as engine weight, tyre size, etc.

Here is a table showing how you can fine tune your car to handle correctly.
