Sliding leaf spring rear bush locator

A mate of mine has just installed this on his 68 Valliant, looks very neat

Yes they (and versions thereof) have been around for donkeys years.

I take it he is using ladder bars on the rear axle? That is the usual reason for fitting them.

Ladder bars force the rear axle to move in an arc rather than straight up and down. So without sliders on the leaf spring it will bind.

There's a guy on another forum I frequent that designed and built his own sliders

They're stock looking leaf springs only Daveman.
They seem like a good idea, easy to fab too.
I take it that they allow the spring to react quicker & more accurately by removing the sideways flex at the shackles,more positively locating the rear spring eye.

Yes. These are usually used with stock springs when you have ladder bars from the axle forward.

Check with Blue. I think he must be planning ladder bars for him to fit those. If the bars are already mounted you wouldn't see them in that picture.
