Horn Dilema

I've recently completed the wiring under the dash and found that my horn relay was bad, so we replaced it. Upon plugging it in, the horns went on constantly and the only way to stop them was by removing the relay or by unplugging the main blue plug under the steering column.
Anyone have any idea about this problem?

Thanks

Have you checked the live ring and wire terminal on the hot push?
Sounds like its grounded

Hi Adrian,
Can you explain in detail? I did take off the ring under the cover and clean it a while back but I don't remember any loose or grounded wiring- other than the black wire that clips just inside the top area.

???

It's that black wire thar can get trapped and if the insulation, which of course is very old and brittle, cracks and leaves an exposed wire it can easily ground against the inside of the column.
Check also that the horn push is releasing properly and standing clear of the top of the column.

I'm still having horn issues, although they are different.
I took apart the top portion of the column- after isolating the grounding to an area between the main molex plug and the top of the horn ring.
After taking apart the crush can, I noticed that the rim of insulation under the brass contact ring was completely gone, so I replaced that with a nice large grommet.
After reassembling the can and making sure there were no kinks/ bare areas in the wire, I tried the horn and it seemed to work fine.
Only problem was - that it grounded again, but this time, when you turned the wheel or pushed down on the wheel itself, leading me to believe that it's now grounding somewhere at the point where the can and column meet.
What is usually in place there to prevent this and what can I do to remedy it?

Thanks

Could there be some sort of collar or insulation between where the can connects to the column?
