This is the trunk light partnumber 3488436 that is for the 1971 E-Body and the only difference to the 1970 style is the color of the wire for the feed to the light assembly that is black on the 1970 E-Body partnumber 2947516 (not shown in the post). These units are for both a neat light whit a built in mercury switch so the do not need any external switch like most others do.

This post show´s a picture of an early made 1970 Challenger trunk on driver side by the trunk lid hinges and that ear whas for the mechanical ground switch in the 2580612 kit that whas used ONLY in this very early made E-Body and it is predrilled as you can see thoe this early 1970 Challenger dident get the trunk light mounted so the hole were never enlaged. They of corse deleated that ear in 1970 model production year !

Regarding the turnsignal indicators on the fender they were used on the E-Body whit flat hood only
Just to be clear, your statement is correct for 1970. The factory started putting the turn signals on cars with the R/T hood after 1970. My 73 came with both. You can't see the passengers side one over the hood though.

Hi Burdar !
Are you saying that they started doing that on 1971 models ? Id realy like to know the facts if you have any ! There were alot put on the car´s at the dealers to you know and that is not the same becas then whe have alot of options that Mr Norm also can have credit for but that is not from factory. It´s always great to learn something new so pleas tell me what you know.

I don't know exactly when it started. I know my dad's 73 Rallye has both the turn signal lights and the bulge hood. This is an original owner car. I know of a 72 non Rallye car with the lights and the bulge hood as well. I havn't really paid attention to 71's.

Hmmm you say that your dad´s 73 Ralley have them but when did they put them on the fenders ? At the factory or dealer ? Can you prove it eather way ? It is know´n that they did mistake at the factory to so no one is perfect ! The other car you say you know of non Ralley 72 what is the history of that bulge hood ? Could it be that they for some resone put that hood on for some resone ? Maybe an fast last way to solve a damed on the flat hood that were surpose to be on when it left the factory ? They did a lot of strange things at the factory like for exsampel put the T/A hood on Hemi Challenger that were surpose to have the shaker but they were not in stock at the assembly plant but not al can be proven

They were factory installed. The silver car in the factory literature for 73 shows them as well.

That is a rumor that has been disproven. The T/A hood was an available option in 70 and 71.

Great info. Curious where the time delay fits in the wiring? Did all 1970 models have this delay?

Ok so then the 1973 and 1974 model came whit the fender light as the pic show ! Regarding the rumor of the T/A Hood ending up on Hemi Shaker Cars i wrote NOT AL CAN BE PROVEN and by that i ment you have to be open minded for things that have or might have hapend becas they were human workers at the factory not robots and it is human to make a mistake some times like on dark mondays
Burdar you were saying that ONLY 1970 model dident have the fender indicators on cars whit bulge hood but so far i havent seen any on the 1971 models !!!!! Im not Galen and i do have a life to live

Jon,
If you had the A01 Option pkg mounted on your 1970 model from factory then the time delay relay should be in the harnesse of the maplight ! it is on this conektor on the harness.
