UNKNOWN WIRING

Hi everyone,

We finally reassembled the dash and installed the cluster/ wiring harness- and I've come across some wiring I have no idea about. I went over the diagrams listed here and still cannot locate homes for the photos I've attached.
Can anyone shed some light on the locations for these?

1. Twin tan good sized gauge wires with a single black plug?
2. Single black wire with grey plug
3. Large plug connector with 2 Orange leads and 1 pink lead
4. Single yellow wire with female press-plug
5. Single yellow wire with black stripe

There is also a plug on the wiper switch that does not seem to have anything connected to it. I managed to connect the two molex connectors (they seem to fit correctly) but need to know if this lead is left open or if there is a wire missing or that I have plugged into something else incorrectly.
We did put power to the harness and at least the lights and clock are working- with no "magic smoke", which is a good thing!

The tan wires look like they terminate right by the unused slot in the switch panel. They may have been for cars with rear defrost however it looks like the connector was plugged into something at one time. Could it have plugged into the black wire that's right by it?

I remember a black wire that wasn't connected to anything originally. It may have been used for testing purposes at the factory. That might be what your black wire is if it doesn't connect to the tan wires.

The orange/pink wires went to the radio. The black/green wires went to the speakers so the orange/pink wires must have been for radio power and for the radio light.

The yellow wire looks like it might have the wrong connecter on the end of it. You can see what plug mine has in this picture. Maybe 1970's used your style of plug? That wire on my car is part of the "light group" and connects to a wire comming down out of the steering column. It's for the ignition key light. The female three pronged plug that the wire goes into is for the time delay relay.

The other yellow wire with the black tracer goes back up into the dash but I'm not possitive what it went to. It may have gone up to the gauge panel lighting....the far left light on the light bar. That's not the wire your holding though...it's the other one. What connector is on the end of the wire you're holding?

I don't remember, do you have the two speed or three speed wipers? The connections are different between the two. I think there was a picture of each style on Moparts. Maybe I'll go look for those pictures.

Thanks for the info!
I think I've managed to stumble upon the location for the 2 tan wires- as there is a diagram showing them plugged into that single black wire.

I'll try your suggestions with the yellow ones later this week when we go to install the dash assembly.

This picture show´s the yello lead cabel that is for the Map Light option or curtesy light in convertibels that dident come whit A01 (Light pkg) that inqluded Map Lamp/Trunk lamp/Switch panel light/Key ignition light/Ashtray light/Glove light ! The Map Light option is a neat option that also has a time delay relay on the cabel harness and when you open the door the lights turn´s on for the igniton key and switch panel light and the (map lamp) if im not mistaking... and when you close the door the time delay relay have power loaded in it for about 15-20 seconds to provide the ignition key and switch panel light so you can put in the key thoe it´s dark in the car =) The yello cabels conector in the pic conects to the key light that is only used this round od conektor in 70 E-Body and i provide a picture of the 2947751 key light that also only is for the 70 E-Body for you to see ! If you need more info just say so  The 71 used a different lamp and conektor that is flat male/female so the map lamp harnesses are also different and they also switcht the coller on the lead wire of the trunklight to brown insted of black that the 70 used but otherways the same in conectors !

Hey Pat-

Yes, I would VERY MUCH like to see a photo of that set-up! Also what the relay looks like and so forth.
The yellow wires you were talking about- are you talking about the one to the left of the fuse-block (yellow/black), in-front of the fuse-block (yellow) or to the right of the fuse-block? (yellow large).
Can you tell me what each one of them is for?

Thanks for all your help!

I have the light bar and my car came equipped with the map light below as well if that helps. There is a relay mounted up inside the passenger side of the dash. Which relay is that exactly?

And do you have a photo of the relay itself? I really appreciate this! I just want to make sure I'm wiring this thing right.

Yes, that's probably the key relay over there. The flasher relay is the round one I can clearly see but I cannot see what the time delay relay looks like.

GOTCHA! Thanks! It looks from that plug for the timer relay that it might be a round design- as the plug configuration seems to be the same as with the flasher relay plug configuration.
