wiring difference

does anyone know what the difference between a rallye and standard dash wiring harness is and can a rallye be constructed from a standard harness? Thanks for any info.

You can constuct one from anything but it is a lot easier with the correct harness.

Thats kinda what I figured but so expensive for a rallye harness. Better to do it right though.

It is the extra wiring for the gauges not in the standard dash that you need to think about. The other wires should just swap over.

I may be wrong but couldn't you just add the missing instrument wiring, ie, oil pressure gauge and tacho and clock? I think there is one more flood light for the instrument illumination as well. Much easier than sourcing a Rallye harness -even dirty used ones on Ebay go for hundreds of dollars

i swapped my wifes gc barracuda, it came with a standard dash and it was not that hard some of the wires are still in the harness ,i had to add the tac wire,i think the wire for the oil pressure is the same for the oil light,and you will need power for the clock ,which there are some accessory feeds, with 3 power out lets, i think the block is pink or orange,speedo is the same ,and the amp gauge is the same also,

its not that hard once you get under there i wouldnt swap out the harness it would be more work and something might happen using an old used one :thumbsup: give it a try if you need help post it here,

just a side note i scanned the 2 pages in the factory manuel with the wiring schematic/diagram and the laminated the paper so then all i have is the diagram/schematic to hold on to instead of the whole manuel,you wont have to flip through pages its right there easy, handy,

if you have a scanner or a copier,i have seen these for sale but i just made my own,i have also seen poster sizes and the are sweet cause everything is much easier to read but this will work with some reading specticals :thumbsup:

i have the engine diagram on one side, and the interior on the other side

I bought a colored diagram off Ebay for, I think, $15 US. It was worth it IMO b/c it's much easier to follow the wiring when it's color-coded. Now instead of trying to follow the third wire from the left I just follow the orange wire :thumbsup:
These 50 year old eyes aren't what they used to be.

yeah, i got the same one ! they are very easy to read. Except mine did have some minor printing errors, pin/plug numbers etc and colour runs. But for $20 i wasn't complaining.
