No. Thinking about it, because you have electric fans etc you will need a 50 amp.

Don't mean to question you suggestion, but wouldn't 50amp compromise some of the original wiring rating?

If I remember right the MAdd wiring article had some sizes for the Links. Can't say the rating of each gauge though.

I have been running a 14 gauge since converting the alt over to the relay, so far not problems. :s022:

Maybe set up a relay for the fan since it uses alot of juice, I just did it for the headlight on mine. They are the yellow wires with a 20 amp in line fuse to each (hi/low) The grey wires are the fusible links, one to the dash and the other from the alternator.

Jon is right. I wasn't thinking. You should connect the fans to the alt output via a relay on their own fused heavy gauge wire. :bonk:

So yeah you don't need a 50amp fuse although I remember that the Painless wiring kit I have came with a 50amp main fuse. But those wires are much better quality than the original wiring and carry more current for their size.

When i was in the airforce, we ordered in a "SLO-BLO" fuse. We opened up the packet and it was a nail. :s009:

Well my plans are to find some relays and some breakers and do some mods ,it should help just to eliminate the weak fusible link,

and if that doesnt work i could always use a nail lol :s024:

The 60 amp house fuse went in an apartment I was renting once and to get things going again I just fixed the fuse with a paper clip.

Actually. I can't remember if I told the landlord or not when I moved out.....

Oh yes I have used gum wrapper before too as a temp measure when I used to have a fuse box in my own house. You never see fuses these days because you have to have trip switches.

A relay idea for you Drew, pretty cheap, maybe get another one for the stereo amp. :thumbsup:

Here is some other interesting info for us electrically challenged. I am wondering if a voltage suppression relay (page 11^) would be a good idea with the electronic ignition? :shock:
