'73 engine bay, location of this bracket please?

Postby Goldenblack440 » 19 Jun 2009 19:13

HI, this bracket came with the spares for my car - i know it fits somewhere in the engine bay. The guy at the Mopar Shop did tell me where it went and it made sense but now i have looked months later and cannot work out where it goes. Or find the bolt holes that match. Does anyone have one of these on their 73, or 72 even? Looks like a fair sized loom/s would be held in them. Thanks

That bracket mounts to the 2 studs that hold the brake master cylinder. The rubberized ears then holds the wire harness. I will see if I can find a pic for you.

Thanks you guys from Indiana! Eddie, i thought they were for the heater hoses at first as well. Bob, i appreicate the picture, that's cleared it all up. Bit of an overkill for those small wires really. Looks a bit untidy, but that's how they did it. I just routed mine around the booster, as in the picture. As you can see, my car is not conforming to original!! As i told Ed, my original master cyl, sprung a leak. Interesting how they used wrinkle black finish on the booster. Was that factory? Because i have a booster from a 70 440 Cuda which is slightly different though and that is a smooth semi-gloss black

Lastly, i have arrowed that small vacuum take-off on your booster Bob. Mine has that too. It is blocked off, do you know what they ever used it for? I have wondered that ever since i saw it there. Thanks.

You are welcome. Must remember that there were other options that might have utilized this massive wire loom. The one option in particular would be the optional and very rare speed control. Perhapse they also utilized the plugged vac port on the booster. Just a guess.

Cruise Control - that makes sense, yes. For both. What a great option to have.
