Brake Light Wiring Q

'70 Challenger

My taillight sockets have a male wire terminal (see pic). This is a reproduction wire harness from Year One. My original set doesn't have this terminal. Was wondering what it's for. I'm assuming for ground, but like I said, my old harness didn't have this and the lights worked fine.

The socket itself grounds the bulb. I assume as you that this is a redundant but more effective ground.

Yes it is a ground connection for use if the lamp housing does not have a good ground connection to the rest of the body or chassis. Often happens after a paint job.
