So, huge problem with my challenger. Key will not trigger dash gauges or starter. How do I get the igniton lock out? Do I have to remove the steering wheel and that collapsible section?

You did check all fuses and fusible link,(if equipped)? Did you pull the starter/ignition switch wiring harness and see if you have power? When you say "will not trigger" do you mean the key wont insert into the ignition switch?

I have two chrysler keys that look identical, one opens the door the other starts the car but, the car door key fits in the ignition but it wont engage, maybe this is the problem.

If you got an automatic trans.. check if it works in "Neutral" i had that similuar problem, it would'nt work in "P" always, because of some play in the links to handle...

Check your Ammeter connections, disconnect the battery first.

The fuses are fine, the power is getting to the dash because I have lights, and I checked most all wires with a multitestor.
Jimiboy, worked through that problem last year. I actually made a spacer to take care of the problem, pressed it into the hole on the shifter assy, so theres no slop now. You could probably do it with a couple of sanded washers pretty easy if you still have issues with it.
Redraven, I rekeyed my lock cylinders to my ignition key so it all functions on one key.
Thanks for the tips, guys, always good to backstop decisions with knowledgeable chally people!
Definitely no power coming out of the ignition cylinder. I chased connections and such for a good 3 hours today making sure, because I just put in my rallye dash. I've had problems getting power through before, and I've had to wiggle the key for a while, so I figure its time for a new cylinder. I pulled the steering wheel off, but I dont have a puller to get the washer out under the nut in the collapsible section. I assume this is the way to get the cylinder out. If not, somebody let me know, lol.

Yes you need a puller. Or a bit of heavy steel with two bolts through it.

Check that all wires are on the ignition relay.....your fuel gauge would still register even if this was the problem but don't expect to see anyting ftom temp or oil pressure as there is none.

have you checked your neutral safety switch? those can cause issues too! how bout the trans linkage adjustment yes they are sloppy and need some lateral support, but how bout the adjustment sleeve? try em , it could be there somewhere

Replaced the cylinder today with the one from the Cuda in my barn. That was the problem! Now I have to redo the door locks to the new ignition key.

Haha it goes in and out of my barn. I bring it out in the morning and let it sit in the sun so I can work inside without freezing. Nothing so advanced as an electric heater, I'm afraid!
