turn signal problems

When I turn on my turn signals some times they flash slowly or not even at all. Could it be a problem with the regulator?

Sounds like the flasher under the dash, needs to be replaced, to me. Commen problem, cheep fix. :) Unless, you have dimming light's or something. When I've lost regulater's in the past, the dash light's, headlight's, all that stuff goe's BRIGHT!!! I'm talking, "Close Encounter's of the Beat Up Your Bulb's And Wiring Kind". :rage:

My money would be on the front turn signal units not being earthed correctly. I had this problem off and on. I fixed it by running a wire from the side of the bulb holder to the top screw holding the light unit to the front valance.

This reminds me of one of my things to check, i suspect bad ground in the back someplace, cause my position lights on the rear side panel alternative goes off and on with my brake lights (brake on- side light off etc..) :s006: And if i use turn signal, the turnsignal flash- my rpm needle drops etc..(that only in idle) OOOUuuuusssshhhhh!!!! :s008: :rage: I think i am going to need a complete ground check of my entire car this summer!

A lot of people have electrical problems after they have had a car re-painted. Just because sometimes the fresh paint is stopping ground connections from conducting. The car relies on bolts connecting all the metal together. If there is paint (or corrosion) under the bolts it starts to all go wrong.

If they are flashing correctly but 'weak' it's ground as mentioned above. :mrgreen:

It can effect speed as well and do wierd things with the rear lights. Believe me. I had every electrical fault going when I first got my Challenger. Its electrics were a mess. First corner I got to the steering column burst into flames when I tried to signal right. :lol:

Low voltage is the simple answer.

Bad ground connections for example.

Or high resistance in the wiring circuits. Often caused mainly by a bad connection on the bulkhead connector that feeds the ammeter in the dash.
But bad connections in the wiring in general will lower the voltage.

This is why it is wise to by-pass the bulkhead connector for the live feed from the battery.
Also why it is best to use relays for the headlights and electric fan (if fitted).

Or it could be just a worn out or dirty dash dimmer switch.

Kevins, Check that simple stuff out first. Tell us what you find out. :wink:
