73 Challenger circut 7 fuse blown...

Postby spitfire9137 » 22 Sep 2005 12:34

Ok for some reason I blew the number 7 fuse in my car everyday. The manual says that it is for Heater, AC, and blower motor. I dont use the heat and my blower motor dont work, and I dont have ac. So my question is, is there something else also on this circut that would cause it to blow?

Does the fuse blow as soon as you put it in?
Does it blow when you turn the key to start?

Could also be the rear defrost fan, I believe it's on the same circuit/fuse. Heater and Vent use the same fan, so if you don't have AC, it should be simple to sort out. You must have a wire that's in short-circuit somewhere. Look at the wires goind trough the firewall, around the engine (especially between firewall and engine), and take a look at wires in the trunk too.
You don't have A/C, but maybe the wiring harness in your car has provisions for it, so check for any unused wires that may have fried on the manifolds...
