I have a Prestolite single-point distributor for a 440. The part number is 2875181 but I can't find any reference to it in any of the automotive literature I have, so I have no idea how much mechanical (centrifugal) advance is built into it. Can anyone give me specs on it? Thanks!

I just found the part number in a another book...... it's a 1968 440 4-barrel HP distributor. It should work fine with Pertonix electronic ignition in it but I still would like to know what the mechanical advance is on it. Thanks again.

I think your best bet is to try it on a working engine. That rules out any factory tolerance.
You can easily (OK it is a pain I admit) adjust both the amount and rate of mechanical advance.

I can´t find #2875181 in Paul Herd´s Interchange book. Either there is something wrong with his book or my eyes.... :confused:

I found out more on this distributor. 2875181 is the replacement number for 2875209. GG's Part and casting numbers book is my source on this. It's a 1968 440 HP distributor for B and C bodies. I'll be using this one with the Pertronix electronic ignition module installed instead of the points. The mechanical advance will be fine for the R/T SE.
