Hi
I always wondered what do you mean writing about "orange box". I have checked my ignition module in my car and I have chromed box with gold "radiator" with following letters:
ECHLIN TP 51
Electronic Control Unit
793266
98905
I've found in Summit catalog that chrome box is for racing only. And my question is:
This module is old standard Mopar or what...?

As far as I know, the orange one is standard one and the chrome one is one for high rpm applications. The orange works OK till 6000rpm and the chrome till about 8000rpm. Let somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

That sounds about right. The orange one is better on a street car for reasons given in my technical posts in this section. The chrome one is better if you have a strong engine and you race a lot.

To get the best of both worlds you need something more sophisticated.

Well, considering all the mods that I am making to my engine, I better get something a bit more "sophisticated". I do have a orange box at the moment, I suppose it will do for the time being.
