Power to my washer pump

OK, I've installed and plumbed the winshield washer reservoir and squirters on my '74, but I can't find the wire for the power to the electric pump. This car was once a strict 1/4-miler, so everything was stripped out for weight savings. My guess is the power wire was cut off someplace, but I can't see a "loose end" anywhere in the engine compartment. I've looked under the dash and found lots of empty sockets, etc. Since I don't have a wiring diagram (schematic) for this except for a '70 Barracuda, I can't figure out which wire from the back of the wiper switch goes to the washer pump, nor where I might expect to find the cut-off other end. Anybody got any thoughts on where I should look for the cut-off wire (drivers side, passenger side, near a bundle that connects to the radio, that sort of thing)?

Thanks.

You HAVE got Challenger wiring diagrams posted right here in this section.

I think the washer wires are part of the engine wiring harness that runs down the passenger side of the engine, to the alt, over to the horns and at the end to the washer pump. It will run from one of the bulkhead connectors. probably the same connector as the horns, temp sender, horn, and alternator wires. I think it is a brown wire on my 1970? :?:

All you have to do is clip a test lamp (or a meter) to that bulkhead connector and watch to see which terminal lights it up when you work the washer switch.

If it has been disconnected from the switch completely just clip your test light on there and see what makes it light up.

A new wiring harness from somewhere like Year One might seem a tad expensive but sometimes it saves a lot of bad and lost connections as well as a headache!

Yes it is a brown wire, it comes from Pin 19 on the bulkhead connector. When looking at the bulkhead on the firewall there are two 8 pin connectors. The one on the right is the connector your wipers get power from.
The pin out is as follows.

Top left side is pin17. (oil pressure) GREY
pin18. (alternator) BLACK
pin19. (winshield washer) BROWN
Bottom left side is pin 20.(air conditionere clutch) DARK BLUE

Top right side is pin21. (temperature) VIOLET
pin22. (ignition start) BROWN
pin23. (ignition run) DARK BLUE with a tracer
Blttom right side is pin 24. (brake warning lamp) BLACK

Hope this helps,

Mike

More info, there are 2 brown wires that go to the wiper switch. One is the wire from pin 19 as stated earlier, the other goes to pin 1 on the bulkhead connector which goes to the wiper motor.

Pink wire to ignition switch to enable washer/ wiper when key is on.
Red wire goes to pin 2 on bulkhead, also to wiper motor.
Dark Green wire goes to pin 6 on bulkhead, also to wiper motor.
Dark blue wire goes to pin 5 on bulkhead then to motor.

If you need any more info about the wiring let me know and I will try to help you out.

Good luck
