Speedo - Kmph or Mph?

Postby martin » 12 Jul 2001 13:06

Hi - I live in Sweden and have a 1970 S/T SE 440 Magnum 727 combo. It has a Mph speedo but I'd like a Kmph speedo. Anyone wants to trade? Someone called hans had a post earlier and he had a Kmph speedo. Anyone has his mail adress? anyone has any ideas how I could find one? thanks Martin

Here I am Martin, I include my emailadress with the name but I don't think you need it anymore (maybe to send a pic of your car). Your right about the fact that my car has a kph speedo, but for this I want to keep it like that. I hope to find the build sheet this winter a resto and find out if the kph speedo is the 'special order' thing on my fender tag. If it isn't I may be willing to trade but then you have to wait a couple of months.

Martin, you have one of 733 cars like yours ever built. I would hang on to that 150 MPH speedometer if I were you, even if I put a KPH speedo in. I am restoring one like it and original interior parts have been a real b**** to find.

Recently I saw a dual-speedometer (both MPH/KMPH) for sale (See pic´s below). I have never seen it before. Which cars did have this setup, or is it something homemade?

That is the Kmph speedo found on the European Assembled Challengers. They have MPH on them as a secondary scale.

I see. Thanks! This particular instrument should be from a 72-74 e-body because of the odo reset button sticking out from the glass!? I am quite sure that I don´t have any similar button on my ´70.
