Wiped oot wipers

dear doc dodge, on the way home from stockton in one of our glorius monsoons today my wipers decided to give up the ghost, the early symptoms of failure were as follows, when trying to turn off wipers they would not return to the correct park position then they ceased to function altogether, when i got home i took off the pivot and the motor seems to rotate ok,lubed the pivot parts reassambled still no joy, then removed wiper arms from their splined shafts and everything looks like it's ok, put 1 wiper blade on an it stops working, also stops working no blades, light finger pressure on linkage rod.have you come across this before? motor gone possibly? any info gratefully receved trevImage

Start by pulling the motor body apart and make sure the insulation has not come off any of the wires that come out of it. i will sort out a trouble shooting guide for you when I have time.

13 years ago my wipers broke. I used RainX until I got them fixed. Got plenty of funny looks driving it in the rain with no wipers on but I could see OK. It was a cheap solution, but the RainX did streak the paint a little. I think I had to replace the 2 speed motor. RainX worked when I had to drive the car in the rain! Bottle costs about $5. If I could find the thing I'd send it to you, as I haven't used it since the wipers were fixed!

hi guys, like the quick 'n' dirty fixes, but with our rainfall i gotta get em fixed, well today i managed to get home sooner than i expected so i went up the garrage and looked further into my problem, tested the motor, thats fine, turns out that the plastic cog in the gearbox is split, as it uses splines to drive it, the split has released the grip on the splines so it has spun round stripping the plastic cog of its drive splines!now to find the bits i need Image
