i am looking to add on MSD igntion to my '72 318. I already have stock electronic ignition, but want to run a hotter multiple spark. i was wondering what the wires from the ignition box hook up to, and if i need the MSD distributor also.

The MSD ignition box can be used with your existing distributor. From memory, there is a ground wire to run to your frame and 4 additional wires - 2 that you plug your old (coil) battery lead and distributor leads in to and 2 that (then) run to the coil to give it new firing instructions. You may need to purchase a tachometer adapter to run the ignition system with electronic tach's.

Why do you feel you need a multiple spark Eric?
They give these things multiple sparks because they are weak for normal street driving. Are you drag racing your 318??? If not then save your money for something more useful. Read my stuff on ignition systems under the 'Electrical' section.

Not as simple a question as you may think and one that could generate a very big answer.
I would have to read up on that MSD ignition to answer that and you can do that yourself!
Read everything I have on electronic/cd ignitions in this section to understand how they work and what to look for. Then make your own informed choice.
