Neutral SS and back-up lights

Been studying the wiring diagrams,,I have a 2 wire NSS and a 2 wire Back-up light switch. My car is originally an auto trans car. I see that the NSS is wired to both the starter relay and the clutch pedal,,correct? BU switch to rear taillight harness correct? Do I need the re-pop harnesses for a NSS and BU switch? I assume I will but want to make sure before ordering them. Thanks for any help

You know, on a manual trans car, I wouldn't bother with a NSS. Only automatics have them in the rest of the world.

You mean omit the switch? Wont the car be able to start in gear then? I'm having many different people drive this car,,don't want an accident or someone to get hurt or killed!

Wow,, no one makes a clutch pedal safety switch re-production,(I think,,couldn't find a re-pop),,Brewers has them used for 300 bucks plus core charge! Feek me! I may just do what Dave suggests! Damn,,I am safety oriented,,hate to do things that way but I aint payin 300-400 bucks for a freakin switch! :shock:

First thing any British taught driver does is check the gear stick to see if it is in neutral before starting the car and again after parking. It is the very first thing you learn and is so automatic to driving that we don't even realise we are doing it.

That is because we all learn in manual box cars. We CAN learn in an automatic but if you pass your test with an automatic you are not allowed to drive a manual shift car.

I do the same Dave. Also check while sitting at red lights or when idling.

The clutch pedal switch is NOT re-produced and I'm not going to pay 300 bucks for a used one! That would be silly on anything but a 100 point car. I'm going to try a 10 Dollar adjustable threaded brake light switch on the clutch pedal! I will post the results in my build section(Thanks Chryco)

Dave is right, people who learn to drive stick automatically wiggle the shifter before turning the key.
Some people who were raised in mountain areas even park in first gear each time, and never use the parking brake, because the brakes can freeze...

Of course, if you've had an auto trans daily driver for years and you borrow your mom's stick car because she wants you to test the brakes, you can still shit your pants like I did last week after starting 2 feet from a wall... :oops:

Having a clutch safety switch also means you can't push start the car.

I bypassed the safety switch on my 1973 cuda back when my clutch was starting to feel worn, I don't like having to crank "on the clutch".
