Yeah I read up on some topics on the web last night after I posted this, some cut back to fit Shivvys etc, some butchered for various stupid reasons  
 
 I read of a Dakota pilot bushings that fills it but I think I'm just best to swap over the input shaft from my existing box, the first gear is set on the shaft so I may have a different ratio than stock but I'm sure they fit any box regardless of the ratio, I'll check with the tech at Brewers
I'll measure the bellhousing Christer but I have both boxes side by side and the difference in the nose of the shaft is obvious
