Can you help me i.d. a Dana axle?

Postby Adrian Worman » 17 Mar 2011 17:26

I got a Dodge van based motorhome in the yard I got for its 440, its about '76/'77, but its got a Dana axle, I've looked up the web for i.d. info but i still can't quite decide what it is. Got a tag on the bottom right cover bolt which is supposed to be an lsd lube tag, but I can't see anything else in the way of numbers. I always thought these axles had the model no.,60,70 etc on the right hand of the case at about 5 o'clock, on the triangular pad under the axle tube, but can't see a thing. Don't wanna scrap it if it can be used.Any ideas?

Ta mate, had a quick look and found a good page on the web, appears to be a 60, 4.11 gears and with a Traction lock diff from a mid '70s B250/350 lwb van or motorhome(which it is) will dheck the axle tube code again just to make sure. At the end of the day tho' can I make some use out of it? I just can't bear to sling things like that out :|

Should be a B.O.M. number on it. On my computer at home I have a listing of all BOM # somewhere but maybe these will help http://www2.dana.com/Expert/ or http://www2.dana.com/expertforms/deabill.aspx
This may help also http://www2.dana.com/pdf/XGI.PDF
