rear end gears with gear vendors

Postby matt » 19 Jan 2010 2:22

Hey everyone! I am planning to put some $$ in to my 440 challenger this year.

Right now I have 3:23s in the rear I used to have 4:56 which were a bit much.

I am going to by a gear vendors set up, I am also plannign on buying a new 3rd member, so I am trying to figure out the best combination.

Anyone out there have a gear vendors set up? what gear ratio you do you having in your rear end? How do you like it?

I do like to take my car on the highway everyonce in a while, but I like to feel the power/ put you in your seat power of my 440.

Thanks -- Matt

Have a read through the the fitting, setting up and problems I had.

It was well worth the hassle though. :D

I ended up using a 4.30:1 rear gear. With the overdrive on it is like a 3.30 gear.
I only have 26.5 inch tall tyres on the street and use 28 inch tall slicks on the track. So 4.30s are plenty for me.

If I was doing it again I would forget about the automatic control for it and all the wiring etc. I would just use a switched 12v source and switch it on and off with the footswitch whenever I wanted to. I leave it switched to manual mode all the time anyway.
