Differential question 8-3/4

While working on the brakes I was spinning the axle and there is a "dull" clicking sound. I assume it is the spyder gears. Is this normal. (Non-sure grip if it matters.)

3:55's I believe Drew.

As I delve further into the project the axle seals seem to be leaking. Looks like more then just a brake job. :s020:

How are the seals holding up in your axle. I read the inner ones should be replaced if you change out the pumpkin too often. That may be the problem with the leak I am dealing with. I have a spare 4:10 sure grip that was swapped a few times in the past.

Thanks for the idea Dave. Without the special tool I decided to drill a couple of holes in the metal seal face and threaded in the slide hammer. Worked out well. No nicks or scratches as they say.

Drew, what are green bearings? :blushes:

Drew, what are green bearings?

they are a newer style that dont require adjustment, you have to cut the old bearings off the axle ,and use a slide hammer to install the new ones ,they install the same, they are made so you dont have to adjust axle end play ,look in to them they are nice and seem to have held up
