I had one of those niggly little things to do on mine, as the back up lights stayed on all the time. So I changed the neutral safety switch for a new one and low and behold they are still on So my question is have you guys had many faulty new switches at all. I also had the pan off the bottom of the box and the internal pivot inside the box is working ok and she starts in neutral and park ok. Any advise would be grateful

If I remember right the switch works by grounding to earth and completing the live circuit.

So my guess is you have a short to ground somewhere in the reverse lamp wiring or in the socket.

Then again...
Damn I can't remember.

I made a simplified drawing of the circuit a year ago. I will see if I can find it tonight.

I did the wiring a while ago,If memory serves me right the starter relay grounds through the middle pin on the switch. The back up lights have a feed to one outer pin on switch, and the pin the other side is the feed to the lights. So the circuit is pretty foolproof and Duncan said he had some dodgy one's before
