The original style manual transmission clutches were Borg&Beck style. This required a over cenetring spring to aid in clutch let off or deployment. As you pushed on the clutch pedal, the over centering spring helped to assist the driver as they pressed on the pedal/clutch. I think the design engineers had to 'aid' women and dudes with chicken legs! When using a diaphragm style clutch the spring isnt needed. And if used the pedal will be forced to the floorboards! I use a McCleod Street Twin. It's a diaphragm style clutch, no overcentering spring is needed. The spring is huge and very powerful. be careful removing it.Moparman1972 wrote:airfuelEddie wrote:Just remember to omit the over-centering spring if you are going to use a Diaphragm stlye clutch assembly.
