I was very disapointed with the "Tailgate Alarm"

I was hoping it was something that blasted abuse at people driving to close behind.

That looks neat Dave. Am I reading the copy right. Is this an improvement to the slap stick shifter[as mine needs improved] or does this convert any shifter to a slap stick?

Both I think?

The "slapstick" shifter should do this anyway. And when new probably did. But they do wear. From what I remember of the stock gate it did not look as well defined as this.

I will dig my slapstick out tonight and take a comparison photo.

hey dave....does this shifter set up improve over the factory slapstick then?.......i have no problems with shifting with mine but the shifter keeps coming apart when i runner hard and shift at high rpms....i like the look of the pistol grip they have......just wonder how much u know about it....and think of it........i guess instead of a button to push u push down on the shifter?.......wonder if that would be hard to do under a race condition...vs.....the ole slapstick button?.....any thoughts thanks!

I don't know about this product. I only know what you can see for yourself.
But I would guess you have to use the button to go into reverse and Park same as usual? Otherwise it will work just like a slapstick usually does. One gear at a time.

I must remember to take a photo of the original for comparison.

Well I am not sure how it works It looks to me as if the 1-2 shift is just a push forward but the 2-3 shift you need to hold the button down?

If so this is different to the stock slapstick action which relies on the shifter adjusting itself between shifts.

Their diagram is the opposite way around than my photo of the stock slapstick. The front of the car is to the left on my photo and to the right on their diagram.

Their gate seems to rely only on the button action. The stock slapstick also moves the lower part of the gate down and back up.

I think this new system is probably a more positive action.

great dave thanks!......just wondering if it was a more firmer..tighter product.....if your not careful with my stock one u can move it into another gear ...say .....u can short shift it accidently....thats what im tryingh to get away from.......dont know if mine is worn,.....or if all the slapsticks are that way?......mine is a reverse pattern valve body as well......maybe ill call the company ...thanks again....

Yeah my shifter used to occasionally go into the wrong gear. Which is why I fitted an aftermarket shifter.

Yeah mine jumped gears too, I had to take it apart and grease it, and put a bigger spring on it. Otherwise I'd try to shift it and it'd jump 3 gears. And then I would hit it to get the shifter plate to come up and it would unstick and shoot the button right off my shifter! :disbelief:

What kind of modifications does it require to use their plates, though? Looks like you have to scrap the old setup and make new brackets and such.
