489 or 742 housing

Is the 742 older than the 489? If so what years are they?

I have a feeling the 489 came out in the late '60s. Not sure if it replaced the other 8.75 inch axles or not? :confused:

741 early 60S, 742 mid 60s, 489 1970 and later.I don't know the exact years. There was a predecessor to the 741 also, I don't remember how it's called.
