Bellhousing Torque Specs??

Postby Rob73 » 01 Aug 2006 5:09

I was planning to drop my engine in tonight, when I over-torqued a bellhousing bolt (TF-727). A friend of mine who has been building and racing E-bodies for years told me no more than 75lbs-ft on each of these. One of them broke off, and I need to try to drill and tap it tomorrow night. Was that the right torque spec? Where could I find these specs?

Another question I have is whether I need longer bolts at the bottom two holes or not. The 3/8" x 1 1/2" don't seem to be long enough down there.

28 ft/lbs

You really need a workshop manual for these cars fella.

Can't answer the question on bolt length. The bottom two go the opposite way (front to back) if I remember right. Just use whatever you feel fits correctly as you never know if the last person working on the engine did it right or not.
