hi this has probably been asked befor but i did not find any old post on it when quickly looking thru!!
is there a stamped number on the tranny that can id the tranny!!
pictures would help!! sits on a 440 so it must be a 727 or??

Yeah it has to be a 727 trans. The numbers on the bellhousing are the VIN numbers that make it "numbers matching".
On the drivers side pan rail edge of the trans is a long number that gives more specifics but you shouldn't need that one unless it is a totally non standard trans you are trying to identify.
