The basics to servicing a 727 or 904

Postby Roger » 19 Sep 2004 11:12

Okay - sorry if I missed the answer to this subject on the message board (I did look, believe me!), but I would like to know what's involved in a basic service of my 904? Daft question for some of you I know, but for a learner like me I would like some simple, easy to follow instructions please. If anyone has any images or scans of a service manual, that would be great. :?

Thanks in advance

PS - Hope to start her up next week for the first time in more than a year :D

A very basic service is just to pull the pan, change the oil and filter, adjust the bands, and away you go!

If the trans is out of the car and not attached to the engine fit new front and rear oil seals.

If this is as far as you want to go with it I can give you the details on band adjustment.

If you want to start doing valve body modifications or fitting new clutch plates or shaft and piston seals then you are better off getting a full re-build kit and the instructions for doing all that are far to involved to include on this board.

However I will send you a PM with a link that might help you.

Thanks - that's just what I was after - those items all seem pretty clear, although I have never even dropped the pan on one before, so I would like some guidance with adjusting the bands please.
