Stock shift RPM of an A-727 Transmisson?

Postby Cgillies86 » 14 Sep 2004 3:47

Ok my challenger right now does not have a Tachometer. I am wondering what RPM the 727 shifts at: if I Leave it in "1" and ride it all the way up when will it shift 6000? or 6500?; or If I leave it in "D".

Thanks

If you have the car in 1st it will not shift up until you shift it manually.

In "D" (Drive or 3rd) it will shift up automatically but the exact rpm depends on how you have your kickdown linkage adjusted.

When Drag racing you shift manually. The cam you are thinking of using has a peak power level quite high in the rpm range so to get the best out of it you will need to shift at about 7000rpm. However with stock con rods don't go over 6500rpm.
YOU WILL NEED A REV COUNTER (tachometer).
