Differential types

I'm a bit confused. I thought that LSD, positraction, and suregrip all meant the same thing. But I have read somewhere else on here that the sure grip has been done away with because of problems while turning a corner indicating to me that it is different from a LSD. I have an open rear end and would like both tires to burn rubber. What exactly do I need to change to do this. Since I have a 3:55 rear gear I would like to keep this gear, but change the differential. So what differential should I get.

They all mean the same thing. You only get a bad effect turning corners if you have what is called a locked diff i.e. no slip at all.

No need to change the diff. Just fit an LSD unit in your existing diff. Check out places like Randy's Ring and Pinion for parts and infomation.
