I have recently purchased a 70 RT with a 383 and some trans problems (non-numbers matching). I swapped out the trans and noticed that the kick down linkage was home-made (welded together in several places). I am wondering if anyone knows the correct parts/set up for the 383/4barrel/727 kickdown linkage? I know there are at least 3 size throttle levers (different lengths and clocked positions)and both 3 piece and single piece rods. I have a small block one but it definitely is too short and a Big Block single rod set-up but I am unsure if this can be used. Any info would be great.

If you run without a kickdown lever or let it drop back too much it will damage the trans. Making small adjustment in the length of the carb linkage rod to move the shift point up and down is is OK and fairly safe if you start from the stock settings.

When I get the front end put back together on my car, I think that is something I will be interested in doing, IF I am not satisfied with the shift settings.

I've seen kick down linkage for sale on the website moparts.com. In that website, look for a profile named "6BBL70X". Maybe worth checking up. Good luck!
