How to swap pedals from standard to automatic?

Hello.I have a 1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye.Don`t get excited,it`s only a rolling shell at this point, but the body is excellent! This car is supposed to be an automatic, but someone has cut a gaping hole in the floor, and installed four-speed pedals.I have a guy who is willing to give me the correct automatic pedals for it,but I`m not sure what`s the best way to do this. The pedals seem to be mounted to like a subframe,or crossmember piece that supports the steering column. It looks like if you remove this section, the brake and clutch pedals come out as an assembly with it.I have been told that you cannot remove the pedals individually and swap them between a standard car and an automatic car, because they supposedly use different mounts.Well,I found four bolts right above the steering column that looked like they needed to come out,as well as one single bolt in the middle of this subframe going staight up into the dash, which I removed.I don`t know.....the pedals don`t seem to be getting any looser!! It appears that there could be four more bolts attaching this thing to the firewall right behind and slightly below the master cylinder. But it`s going to be a NIGHTMARE getting those bolts out.Maybe the steering column has to be pulled first? Anyone have experience swapping standard for automatic pedals in these cars? I thought patching the big hole in the floor was going to be hard! Thanks. Steve P. in WV.
