Okay...I realize I am in the midst of some really knowledgeable car and mopar guys. Having said that, I will risk sounding like a complete idiot and admit I know little to nothing about mechanics, but that I do own a challenger and love all mopars.

I need some advice/help. While driving my 4spd challenger the other day, I began hearing a faint whining noise when I let off the gas. It would go away as soon as I put my foot back on the gas or pushed in the clutch. The whining quickly got louder and got to the point I could hear it even with the clutch pushed in. By the time I pulled over, the whine had turned into a horribly loud whine/screech, my shifter was harder than normal to put into any gear, and a ton of oil spewed from my rear differential. Woe is me!

Can somebody tell me what likely happened and what this will probably cost me?
