My rebuilt transmission is in, and it shifts. But the kickdown does not work. Whatever the cause is, I know it is not good to drive without the kickdown operative. But does that count for long term or short term too? I have to move the car for a 200 km (125 miles), can that be done without endangering the transmissions internals? Or is this a nono too?

I don't know. Anyone else know?

A gear guru told me it would be no problem if I would restrict to only aproximately 20% throttle. I will be rollin' today.

Ok, heres the problem:
when I hook my kick down rod to my throttle pressure bracket on my tranny I cant get WOT. the way I was told to set my throttle pressure is to feel when I have a small bit of tension or resistance from the spring on the throttle pressure shaft in the valve body. then just hook it to my carb. when i do that it restricts me to only 3/4 throttle. what I mean is the rotation of the throttle pressure rod and bracket stop before my carb does. now if I put my carb at WOT and push my throttle pressure all the way back now i have no restrictions but i have no throttle pressure until im between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. I hope that made sense. i am very confused on what to do.

(And I'm getting mad because I want to drive my car very much!)

There are clear instructions on setting the rod length in the shop manual. i think i also posted full instructions on here too if you can search for them and find them?

Also check that when your gas pedal is to the floor your carb comes wide open.

had the same prob with the set up on one of my other cars, I tryed everything and still couldent get it right, so in the end I relised that with an aftermarket inlet manifold and carb that it put the whole thing out so I went full manule witch I think was a better option in my case.
