Hi there, Dave and everyone....
Dave... A cam decision has finally been made on my 383...
If you recall, I was more concerned with getting some nice "cam lobe" sound, as opposed to a big performance increase.
Figured that'd be cool, when she "lobes" onto the show fields....
As you often mention tho, I couldn't go too radical...without also going to headers, aftermarket intake, and/or whatever. And, I didn't want to do that, as it's important to me to keep the engine stock appearing.
So, after contacting the good folks at Hughes Engines, they are custom grinding a special cam for my needs. Kevin over there states he's had such requests before, and knows exactly what I'm after.
If I recall correctly, its going to be a 214 degree cam, but the lobes will be seperated in such a way as to produce the desired effect.
It'll be interesting to see what I have when it's all said and done.
By the way, the heads are done now. Three angle valve job, all new guides, slightly heavier-duty-than-normal springs, hardened seats.
I'll keep you posted... The Chally is still in the shop, awaiting the custom grind....
Hi to the Pretty Lady, from myself and Luanne!
