6453S THERMOQUAD HELP

Postby transman » 22 Jun 2012 19:28

Anybody out there can send me a photograph of the choke linkage and how it is supposed to be set up for the 6453S carb. :s005: I've got a factory service manual for a 73 Challenger, but it's showing the wrong carb.
I committed the cardinal sin of not taking photos before I took the thing apart and damned if I can figure out how the choke linkage is supposed to be. I've got another thermoquad but the linkage is different than the one on my car. It's driving me nuttier than usual. I've also looked at other thermoquads, but their linkage is not the same as mine. The 6453S is for 1974 360's with an automatic transmission. From what I have found out, any 1974 automatic equipped car with a 360 in it will have the 6453S on it.
The car runs fine, but it is a bear to start without the choke operating correctly.

HELP.

I had a quick look and didn't see much there except for the luck AAR guys. I will look further but suspect that because mine is a 74 it won't be there.

Maybe if you posted detailed photos of the job in hand we can figure it out?

Here are a couple of scans from the 1974 chassis service manual. I hope they will give the information you are searching for.

I am plannig to ask a question about ATF-oils. Maybe you can answer that question in return?

Christer:
Thanks very much for the sheet. It'll be a great help in getting things back to the way they should be. The diagram/photos are exactly what I need. :D How can I help you on transmission oil?
