Exhaust Stock Look with Rumble

Postby cv70chall » 03 May 2011 13:32

I'm to the point where I have to make a decision regarding my exhaust. I have the NOS mufflers and resonators and would like to retain the stock look, but I also want some nice sound.
I've been told the Magna-Flow mufflers are nice and I have a mechanic trying to convince me to install headers- but I know it can be a pain if you need to access anything on the driver's side.
I'm already going with a bumped up cam to add some "fun" to it.
What's the best recommendation here? And does anyone make a good sounding muffler that will look original?

We installed Walker mufflers where I used to work. They have a line of Turbo mufflers that have a good sound to them. The seams are crimped so they would look close to stock. There is also an all welded muffler that would be a step up from the turbos.

Magnaflows are a good muffler too. They are all stainless so they shouldn't rust out. That does come with a higher price tag though and they don't look stock. You might be able to turn the mufflers so that the Magnaflow logo is pointing twards the floorpan. Then, a little high temp exhaust paint would take away the polished finish that they come in.
