Unusual engine performance

Hello everyone!
It has been over 2 years, and i have been busily improving "cranky motor" post and am going to post some updates in a few days. the flat hood has gone to a competition hood. the bumperettes are gone and the rear valance holes filled and painted to match, etc...but today i took her out ran her and when i got home the car was nice and hot. But when i went to clear out out the engine to shut down it stumbled badly. And also ran on a bit after the key was off. Let it cool down and it seems to be fine. Any thoughts much appreciated. It has an Ebrock 1407, MSD 6A ignition (new old one started smoking and failed). Vac lines look good. It was dyno tuned three years ago.Its got me stumped..Thanks........

What does that mean? You don't rev the engine before shutting down do you??

And also ran on a bit after the key was off. Let it cool down and it seems to be fine. Any thoughts much appreciated.

Dyno tuned does not mean it is tuned correctly for street driving.

What is your timing advance at idle (initial) and max. Do you use vacuum advance?

If those are correct it sounds to me that you are running rich at idle. Possibly rich in general.

Sounds like the idle is too high. But Dave's right, check the timing at idle too.
