Doug's Header's

Postby bradburm » 27 Aug 2010 20:49

I am taking the junk Hedman headers on my 73 Rallye and going to go with a set of Doug's.

The question is there online catalogue shows headers for 273 - 360, I have a call into Doug's but figured I would ask here also.

Isn't the 273, 318, 340, 360 the same block so the headers would work for my 340?

Yes I think they mean it fits sizes from the 273 up to the 360.

Doug's Headers

Postby bradburm » 28 Aug 2010 18:19

Talked to the tech and they will fit a 340, I will need to call them back as I went to the online store and 2 footnotes are listed with the header:

Does not fit with 727 transmission - Aren't all Challenger automatics a 727?
Fits with a mopar mini-starter - pn5249644ab

WTH, I installed a set on my 383 Roadrunner without all this.....anybody use Doug's On a 340 auto?

No you could only get the 727 transmission on engines from the 340 -up. So the vast majority of small block Mopars will have the smaller 904 trans. It is actually quite "rare" for a 727 to be on anything other than a big block.

If their small block header does not work with the 727 try TTI headers instead.

The 727 has a bulge close to where the collector would be. I wonder if when they designed it they never considered the 727 on a small block?
Chevy guys I bet.
