Is there some of it left sticking out from the head?

If so;

Option one.
Apply WD40 to it every half hour for a few hours and then clamp a pair of Mole Grips to it and see if it will unscrew.

Option two.
Heat it with a blow torch until red hot and then try the mole grips.

Option three.
Weld onto the stud to heat it and give yourself something better for the grips to grab.

Option four.
Weld a nut on the end.

If it is snapped of flush you need to take the head to an engineering workshop to have it drilled out and re-tapped.

i had one that broke off flush on my 383 and, after 2 days of an angle drill it just was not worth the hassle, so i just decided to build a whole new engine with alloy heads,it is amazing what motivates me :s024: :s024:

You might want to try answering the questions these gentlemen put forth. Such as:

Did it snap off flush? How much is sticking out if it didn't? Did you try WD-40? Even better, did you try PB Blaster?

What you said here:
so is the best way to weld a nut on to them and try it that way???

Was one of the options presented to you depending on how it snapped. So give us some information now.

Studs are removed by threading two nuts on. Tighten the two nuts together and then turn the lower one anti-clockwise to extract the stud.
