Shaking 2009 Challenger? V6

This is what I sent to Dodge.. Has anyone else had this issue?

I purchased my 2009 Challenger in March. I brought it back for service days after I purchased it due to the vehicle shaking when stopped in park, or at a idle off the brake. It is very annoying, and has been going on for months. I was told there was no computer update yet for the issue. I brought the car back a month later and was told the same answer. I called again today, and was given the same answer. I look online, ask around to other people with the same car/engine, and was told it seems to be a problem with my car. I want this fixed. How can this go on? I have given my dealer 3 chances to handle this, and the issue is not resolved. Today, I find a bubble in one of my tires, and they will also not replace it for me.. Sending me to a tire shop. I am sure its under warranty and am sure the tire shop will replace the tire, but that kind of service is not right. I expect all warranty issues to be handled at the place of purchase. I bought a extended warranty, spent a lot of money on this car and am completely unsatisfied with it. The car shakes to the point where it makes me feel sick. Please help!!

You will have to sort it out with the dealer. Like you say. It is under warranty. If anyone else messes with it that could void the warranty.

Well, I was looking to see if anyone else had this problem..
I plan to have dodge deal with it.. I have a extended warranty, and as im sure most of you know, the engine/trans/rear is lifetime as long as I always own it...
But, if no one else has this problem, I will fight harder.

yes i had a new dodge ram and they tried to do the same thing 2 things i did , i got a hold of there manager, and the second thing i did was take it to a different dealer and sure enough they fixed the problems right on the spot,for some reason the second dealer wanted my business more and they were closer to my house,the problems i had were brake and electrical.

does the car shake when it is in park?

The car shakes while in drive, when I let off the brake.. It bucks in idle, while in drive.
It just seems to be air/fuel mix issue..
Everything else is good.

Dodge have had lots of problems with their Hemi engine management systems in recent years. A mate of mine in New York had serious problems with his Hemi Ram as it would just suddenly cut out and stop in the middle of junctions etc. He soon found he was not the only one havingthese problems but Dodge refused to deal with it or do a recall.
I don't know how it ended for everyone else but my mate started legal action and eventually had a full refund. He has refused to drive a new Dodge since.

This is no Hemi unfortunatley. My fast car is a 02 trans am ws6.. this was a cruiser.. It drives nice.. But the rough engine pisses me off.
Im going to see what Dodge says, then try another dealer..

Has any of the Check Engine/Service Engine Soon ect lights 'come on' in the dash readout? If so I would take it back and tell them the car is not safe to drive. If Not, have you checked with any TSB's available? They can be found at www.allpar.com and other sources,(Google or Bling may help here), the 'economy' engines are borderline too lean, they also had this problem with low idle speed on the 4.7,(reduces certain emissions and improves fuel economy with a low idle). How is your idle? Does it 'search' for a certain speed when cold then stabilize when warm/hot? Has the car ever been on a dealership scan tool like the Chrysler DRB?

No codes, or lights. Engine seems to operate normal.. But I do think it idles too low.. I brought it to the dealer twice.. the kept it overnight.. ran it cold.. Saw the problem, but have no fix for it..
Today, I go with a bubble in the tire, and they argue that its normal..
I go to a tire shop, they agree its normal, but say the tires to not belong on the car.. So angry with the dealer now.. Im waiting for Dodge to get back to me.. And not the dealer, dodge itself.

First find another dealer that will work with you. Ask them to 'turn the idle up' until you get a re-flash on the vin tag in the dash. Takes maybe 3 minutes with a DRB Ask them about 2008 TSB,(Technical Service Bulletin), # 08-016-08

Your car is less than six months old correct?.

You need to walk in there and be assertive, frank, factual and never ever swear or shout.

Do not allow them to talk you around this time, you are gonna walk away from this car today and leave it with them to fix, replace or refund.

Your basis for returning the car is on safety grounds it makes you feel physically sick when driving therefor you and other road users are at risk whilst the vehicle is on the road.

Your having problems with a brand new car FACT, you are the customer FACT, your are important to them FACT, ask for there customer charter or policy on warranty etc and put it in the dealers lap or read it out to him, listen they should be treating you with the upmost respect on this issue.

This is your 3rd or 4th time to come back to them with the issue, you have been more that patient with them, drive to the dealer, park the car directly at the front door, walk into the shop and hand the salesman who sold you the car the keys and tell him that this problem is not yours its theirs. Leave the dealer with the car on his lott. Finally tell him to have the problem fixed or have a new challenger ready for you to pick up, one or the other. The only way this will move is with action.

Contact your finance company and tell them that the agrement is now void as the car is defective and you have returned it to the dealer for a full refund.

When its all sorted out, they should be extremely apologetic for the whole saga, give you your defect free car with a new set of tyres.

Thats what Ive done before (not with a car but its the same pricipal)and would do again in a heartbeat.

Between this and your post about no spare tire or jack, I am going to take a guess and say that the car dealership you purchased this from is named "Sleazy Joe's."

That is absolutely horrible service. Follow RedRaven's advice and don't let up on them. They want to ignore you and hope you go away. Show them that you cannot be dissuaded until they have made things right.

Here is perhaps another way to do it. I had some electrical issues with a GM product I owned a number of years back. There was some type of electrical surge that took out my alternator, radio, computer and a variety of other electrical parts. As the car was still under warranty, the local dealer fixed all the problems we told him about. This was my wife's car, so I seldom drove it. I went to use it one time later, and when I went to set the drivers outside remote mirror, it wouldn't move. I grabbed an ohmmeter out of the tool box and found power going to the switch, but not through the motor in the mirror. I took the car to the dealer and they confirmed that the motor in the mirror was shot and the bill to replace the mirror (had to be painted) was going to exceed $300.00. I questioned the service advisor about maybe the problem was because of the previous electrical problem and perhaps it should be covered under warranty. Because the car was now over the alotted warranty mileage he said no. I called GM Canada and was put in touch with a lady who listened to my tale and she agreed that perhaps I was right. She said that they could not cover the replacement 100%, but was I agreeable to a $75.00 charge, which of course I was. She gave me a file number and said to take the car to any dealer to have the work done.
I worked for both a Chrysler and GM dealer in the past, and know that if you're not getting treated properly from the dealer, go to the maker of the car and see what they might do for you. One thing I did learn working at a dealership, is they like to see you coming back on a regular basis for things like lube and oil changes. The better customer of theirs you are, the stronger your arguement can be when there's trouble.
By the way, an oil change on my new 300 costs less at the local dealer than at any of the local oil chang joints. :lol:

Unless you order the spare tire option, it doesnt come with a spare or tools to change it out. Instead, the Challengers are delivered with air compressor and sealant to get you home or to a shop. The performance wheels are pretty big and the tires are also large. If they were to equip a spare in the trunk it would take up the majority of trunk space available, and this would be unacceptable to most of their customers. This should have been expalined to him.

My mistake then, that makes sense with the air bottle and patch instead of an actual tyre.

Hm. My buddy just got a brand-new Jetta with some 19" rims on it. It came with a full-sized spare and a jack in the trunk. No need to ask.
