It does not matter if the regulator is physically in front or behind the carb as long as the OUTPUT from the regulator is feeding the carb (usually on the side) and the tank and filter are connected to the INLET on the regulator (usually on the bottom).

You don't need a return line with a mechanical pump but you do with an electric.

ok after a complete rebuild ,and extensive testing,at least 10 different runs i now have a 6.5 for p.v and i also changed the secondary spring with 3 different springs(standard chrome,purple,yellow,) yellow is the lightest,it runs better with the standard spring,i used the 8.5 p.v and the 6.5 runs better, 10 inches of vac. ,it runs better than it ever has,so thats where im at :thumbsup:

With your R/T tuned,, I better get mine done as good! Tue I'm gonna throw the LM-1 on mine and have it in the passenger seat and go for a cruise. I checked my NGK's and I think I need a bit more fuel in the cruise circuit but the LM-1 will show exactly what I need. Last time I checked I was at 12.9/ 13.1 AF Ratio, but the conditions lately have been very Hot and at least a 80% Humdity. Timing is spot on however. 18 initial 16 mechanical, all in at 2600 no vac adv.

i just drove mine i might put the 7.5 pv in because i still have a stumble when i nail it rolling from a 20 mph roll, i am also playing with the vac. secondary spring, i have looked over the entire place for my lm meter it sucks i need it now ,but a vac gauge ,and a pyrometor are helping me for now old school :s024:

ok now after some fine tuning the idle mix, i went back t a lighter spring in the vac.secondary,and a 75 pv ,it just wasnt quite right so i went back to the standard spring and now the stumble/hesitation is gone,the pryo reads 1150 degrees f, i dont want to go any leaner than i have it now,
this a street cruiser and i need it to go on the street as i drive it every day now ,so it needs to behave ,also
i felt that the main problem was gasket failure, it was kinda falling apart,due to the vibration from the bent pulley in ps pump
,now it seems real smooth,doesnt puke on me or flood/lean/hard start, its really good after several hot starts considering the stuff they call gasoline/motor fuel,it just is so inconsistent one tank seems to vary by seasons they say we have a summer blend now,we have low octane the best i can get at the pump is 93 ,of course i can get race gas but if i dont use it fast enough it goes bad,what is the highest octane you guys can get?

I think all our regular gas at all the stations is 94. They all also sell 97 these days too.

Selected stations (like the Tesco near Santa Pod Raceway) have 99. :nod:

well i stand corrected it is only 91 i wasnt looking the other day and today it was 91 weak ,really weak but it runs good now i just did a trip to golden about 50 or 60 miles and it ran great :thumbsup:

Well Drew, I drove it 3 times the other day, 12.9 to 13.1 same as last time. I found a potential 'problem' with 2 sparkplug wires and now that it's corrected, it runs better than ever. :thumbsup:
