Hey Guys,

Can anyone tell me roughly how much a complete 440 engine weighs?

Thanks

gday mate, someone posted all the weights for most Mopar engines on the MM forum. Do a search and you should find them. i have them somewhere, if you can't find them doing a search i'll see if i can dig them up.

Thanks mate. I search for ages on the net and couldn't turn up anything. i was just after approx weight so I could get an engine stand. I checked out MM and it looks like 600 to 650 lbs depending on what is hanging off it.

Yep that is about right with no fluids in it and no exhaust manifolds.

yep that's about right, rather heavy, but lots of alloy parts helps that. I don't trust any engine stand nowdays, so i always support the weight at the front as well with either a bit of wood or rods i made up out of trailing link arms from a Falcon rear end.

Yeh I agree, I had a look at one today that is rated at 450kg so it should in theory handle it ok but it looked like a big block would crush it. I think I might build my own.

Cheers

Too bad you guys dont have a cheap tool store that you can buy engine stands for 30-50 bucks new. (Harbor Freight has 1/2 ton 4point stands for 40.00 bucks). I bought 3
