But it does have large contact surfaces on both sides, and exhaust is not something that requires heavy-duty braces to hold up.
You would be supprised how much weight those hangers need to carry. The only other hanger is at the very back of the car. The mid-point hanger has to carry the resonators and the exhaust pipe. Not to mention that the exhaust system "bounces" every time you go over a bump in the road. I also don't think it would take long for the mufflers to get some water in them from combustion either. Add all that up and you have a good deal of weight there. I wouldn't think that one bolt in the fairly thin floor pan would have been enough for the factory. That is why they had the 2 piece hanger on the drivers side.
If I had to guess, I don't think those are factory hangers. I'm just going to have to wait and take a look at the car once I get it back. My guess is that it should have the hanger that was origonally posted. I checked the website of a company that offers complete exhaust systems for Challengers. They list that hanger for the passengers side.
