Hello to everybody.

Last two weeks the fuel pump (holley red tab 97gph at 7psi) is failing.
I'm listening different noise few weeks ago, until the pump noise drops and I check the pressure gauge and the pressure is dropping from 7psi to 5 or 4 and when the car stops, ilding or driving slow I check the air/fuel ratio gauge working leaner, also sometimes at the highway.

We disassembled the pump, all is clean. We strength the spring inside the pump and the pressure raised to 9psi. We adjusted the pressure regulator to 7 psi but still works bad.

What do you think about it? Is normal this type of pump failing? What do you recommend to me?

I have a Mallory Comp140.
No matter what brand you're using, if you're using a pump with an external pressure regulator, you should add a return line.

The noise a pump makes is usually a good sign of its condition.
Mine started howling real bad before I rebuilt it, and I'm adding a return line shortly.

I've installed the return line at the time I installed the fuel pump, around 1800 miles ago.

I've istalled the return line after the pump but before the regulator, and the line goes back to the tank again.

I'm not sure if it's the best way, but the regulator have three ports, one for the inlet, one for the outlet and the third one for the gauge. No way to build the return line from the regulator and I've choosen to install it just after the pump.
